The House Cleaning Adventure

Not many places would I post pictures of my completely cluttered and unorganized mess of a house, but I decided to do a few before and after pictures of the house cleaning that took me 1 week to complete. After getting married and quickly moving to another state and back again, our house had seen better days after I moved home. Here are a few pictures of the transformation.

This is our spare bedroom/collection of all junk room. This room became the catch all over the last year and got to the point, after I got moved home, that you could barely open the door. This is the after, much improved, still our storage room, but at least you can walk, and people can actually stay with us again! The living room. Where do I even start. I have loved that entertainment center in the back since I first saw it. Niles dad made this and I love love love it, but when the flat screen TV joined our house last year, it wouldnt fit in. So it became my mission to somehow get that TV to work with the entertainment center. And I did!We can even open the curtains now, because there is no glare on the TV anymore! I took one section and moved it to the dining room, flipped the other section upside down and then had PLENTY of room for the TV....rearranged the furniture and VOILA!
That crooked chair with the pink blanket....that is my favorite chair that I always talk about and Love so much! Our bedroom....gasp. This room...AHHHH. The closets were completely full with our wedding gifts. When I cleared my closet to move, that was the only place where they would fit, and that is where they ended up. My mission was to clear them out, pack them up and have a closet again.....got that accomplished too! I did a little laundry too ;)The Kitchen: Just needed a little TLC. I cleaned everything, including the cupboards and reorganized everything. I also cleaned out the fridge and the stove and the microwave which was VERY scary!
The dining room: It wasn't too bad, was just a nice place for things to get put when we unloaded the trailer. The futon had seen better days. It had been moved 5 times, so our dog, Garrett got a new dog bed with the cushion and the frame met the dumpster.

Lopers and Chicago

So it seems like we have been on the go since I got home. Last weekend we went to Chicago for a quick weekend trip to see a Chicago Cubs game. I got Niles tickets for his 30th birthday. We have a great time at Wrigley and stopped at Navy Pier too. This last weekend we went west, to do some antelope hunting. Niles was able to get one early Saturday morning. Here are a few pictures of our adventures.

My absolute FAVORITE store!

So I started off my vacation with a trip to my absolute favorite home decor store in Holdrege, The Craft Boutique. Thanks to my bestest friend Sheila for the gift certificate!! I thought I would share with you what I bought! Here they are.

1. 3 metal stars on a wooden stick. :D I think I am going to put them either on our table or entertainment center for Xmas decorations.

2. Pumpkin Candle. Niles' only request.....bring him back a candle.

3. My favorite! 3 wire pumpkins. They are the size of a real pumpkin and the blue box in the corner are lights that I am going to string thru them once I get our house put back together (stay tuned for before and after pictures of the house rearranging!) LLOOOOVVVVVEEEEE THEM!

I am loving fall and can't wait to decorate my house again!

Good to be home again!

Today was our last day of classes and I am happy to say that I left Vermillion at 11 this morning and don't plan to return until December of 2010 :D. This makes me very happy. It will be so nice to be home again and try to get back to a somewhat normal life. Here are some pictures from the last day!

This is the view I have had everyday for 14 months.

Molly, Megan and Leslie. Great friends I made while in Vermillion.

Getting Close to the End

So today was the last day of a miserable 2 weeks for me. We are getting closer to the end of the classroom phase of PA school, and I don't think it can get here soon enough. It will be bittersweet to leave, as I have made some lifelong friendships while here. However, I am looking forward to being at home with Niles for awhile and trying to get back to a somewhat 'normal' life. Here are some pictures from our whitecoat ceremony, day at the capitol in Pierre and PA week. I am really going to miss these people!
